The goal of HIJAZ ACADEMY Staff is to instill self-discipline into each child, leading to socially acceptable behavior within religious guidelines. Encouragement and praise will be the basis of discipline policy. If a child displays inappropriate behavior, staff will talk with the child quietly to explain why the behavior was wrong and an example of appropriate behavior will be given. If a child continues to use inappropriate behavior, they will receive “Time Out”. During “Time Out”, the child will be seated apart from the group but not out of sight of the staff. The length of the time that a child is required to sit in “Time Out” will be:

- Hitting
- Scratching
- Biting
- Kicking
- Horsing Around
- Saying Bad Words
- Whining
- Tantrums
- Shouting and Screaming
- Being rude to other children & teachers
- Throwing objects
- Snatching
- Stealing
- Lying etc.
Suspension and expulsion policies
If a child’s behavior is continuously distracting the whole group or interfering with the group’s learning activities, the parents will be asked to keep the child home for at least 2 days. This time might increase according to severity of conduct. If suspension does not work, the Administration has all rights to cancel enrollment of child.
