Sister Heather Elsayed

Sr. Heather is a recent graduate of Ribaat Academic Institute, obtaining a teaching certification in Islamic Studies. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Islamic Studies from Bayan Graduate School and holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration Marketing. She has experience as a strategist and in management for several companies. As a certified life coach, Sr. Heather has a passion for teaching and coaching students. Her goals as an educator are to support students in discovering career possibilities, empowering them to believe in themselves, and connecting their academic studies as it relates to Islamic knowledge.

Lubna Haider

My name is Lubna Haider, I have earned my bachelor’s in education and Master’s in Islamic History from Pakistan and hold a CDA (Child Development Associate) certification from the USA. I have been a teacher for more than 32 years, 16 of those in the USA, working with students ranging in age from 4 to 10. My father was a university professor, and this fact served as my motivation as I began my road toward becoming a teacher. He instilled in me the value of education and how important teachers are to creating a better society. Personally, I adore children and like spending time with them. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have found a career that allows me to spend time with them and educate them.

Teaching is my life’s passion, and I have been teaching elementary students for 15+ years. This is my eighth year working at Hijaz Academy. I strive to create a space for students to explore their own learning styles, then I’m there to help develop their interests and guide their absorption of the material. I am looking forward to getting to know you all and guiding your child through a successful and fun filled first year of School.

My name is Rida and I am excited to be joining the Hijaz family this year! I graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelors in Education in 2018 and am a certified teacher. I taught 4th grade ELA/Social Studies at Everest Academy for one year before putting my career on hold to spend some time with my family. I am looking forward to resuming teaching again; it is the career of my dreams and I can’t wait to meet and help educate our next generation of Muslim leaders.

Qari Bilal

My name is Belal Jami, and I am excited to be handling the Hifdh program at Hijaz Academy. I have more than 30 years of relationship with the Quran, I am passionate about it and spend most of my free time listening to the Quran Radio station from Cairo, which I grew up listening to since my early childhood. This connection to the Quran has shaped my desire to teach it. I had the privilege to teaching Quran at Richmond Islamic center, with the well-known sheikh Qari Hashim Abbasi, which further fueled my interest in Quran schools. After that, I joined Maryam Islamic Center as a Quran teacher at Maryam Quran Academy. Looking ahead, I am eager to stay connected to the Quran. I hope to gain additional experience at Hijaz Academy that will help me to bring a positive impact on my students. Originally, I am from Gaza, where I spent most of my childhood learning the Quran and Islamic Studies. I went to Al Azhar schools in Gaza and earned my high schools in Islamic studies from there and became Hafith since then. Then, I went to Jordan and studied Bachelor of Islamic Studies 2005, then Masters of Islamic Studies 2010. I am currently a PhD candidate at the Islamic University of North America, pursuing a doctorate degree in Islamic studies. I have always been passionate about the Quran, which is what led me to this field of study. I am fluent in English and Arabic. In addition to my interest in the Quran, I have also have my own business where I help recruit international students to the American universities. Outside of my career, I enjoy hiking, playing Secor, and volunteering at nonprofits. I believe that engaging in various activities helps me maintain a balanced life and brings new things to my life. Sister Sabah has a Degree in Education with Montessori certification. Her experience as a teacher spans over 12 years, a majority of which has been in Islamic school. Her love for children shines through in all that she does. Her goal is to shape a child’s future in the best way by giving them caring instruction and creative lessons that broaden their critical thinking skills.
